The USPHL has announced that Decatur Blaze forward Walker Smith is the Midwest East Division Forward of the Week.

Smith, a 2002 birth year from Bailey, was responsible for six of the Blaze’s eight goals over the weekend, including getting in on all four in a loss to the Metro Jets Development Program.

He started with a goal and an assist in a close 4-3 loss to the Chicago Cougars. Two games later, he put together a natural hat trick and added an assist against the MJDP.

Smith, who had 61 points (30 goals, 31 assists) in 38 games for the Blaze in 2019-20, now has 14 points (10 goals, four assists) in 13 games this season. 

During his youth hockey career back home, Smith played for the Colorado Rampage and Littleton Hawks.
