Denver natives Hampton, Lane take home weekly USPHL honors
The USPHL has announced that two players from Colorado have earned weekly awards.
Bellingham Blazers blueliner Tanner Hampton is the Northwest Premier Defenseman of the Week, while Hampton Roads Whalers netminder Liam Lane is the Southeast Premier Goaltender of the Week.
Hampton, a 2005 birth year out of Denver, put up a goal and three assists in the Blazers’ first win against the Rogue Valley Royals and added one assist the next night. He’s improved to 1-5-6 over seven games.
Back home, Hampton played for Dakota Ridge High School and the Littleton Hawks.
Lane, an ‘04 from Denver, is a third-year USPHL veteran who has moved up from the Elite Whalers and was completely unblemished at the USPHL Southeast Showcase. He gave up zero goals in his full start against the Florida Jr. Blades, earning his first junior shutout. He also stopped all 22 shots he faced in a relief effort against the Florida Eels.
Overall, stopping all 44 shots he faced gave him a 0.00 GAA and 1.000 save percentage for his trip to Morrisville, N.C.
During his youth hockey days, Lane played for the Rocky Mountain RoughRiders.
