Colorado products Stringer, Marvici, Woolverton earn weekly honors from USPHL
The USPHL has announced that a trio of Colorado products have earned weekly player awards.
Bold City Battalion goalie Evan Stringer is the Florida Premier Division Goaltender of the Week, Hampton Roads Whalers forward Blake Marvici is the Southeast Elite Division Forward of the Week, and Bold City goalie Kael Woolverton is the Florida Elite Division Goaltender of the Week.
The third-year Premier veteran Stringer, an ‘05 from Fort Collins, went up against the Florida Eels, stopping 27 of their 28 shots for his fourth straight win on Oct. 27. He is 4-1-0-1 this season, and 27-12-5-1 in his career.
Back home, Stringer played for the NCYH Jr. Eagles and Rocky Mountain RoughRiders.
Marvici, a 2005 birth year from Colorado Springs, registered five assists, dishing the puck out generously to teammates as the Whalers swept the Charlotte Rush over the Oct. 26-27 weekend. That sweep allowed the Whalers to tie the Rush for first overall.
In Colorado, Marvici skated for NCYH and the Colorado Springs Tigers.
Woolverton, an ’05 from Parker, came up huge in a pair of games against the Florida Eels, which resulted in a split. He went 1-1 while stopping 96 of 100 shots for a .960 save percentage and 2.00 GAA during the series. For the season so far, he has a 3.07 GAA and a .932 save percentage.
Prior to junior hockey, Woolverton played for the Colorado Rampage and Littleton Hawks.
