Colorado natives Mitchell, Rakosky honored with weekly NCDC awards

The USPHL has announced its latest players of the week, with two standouts from Colorado being honored.

Pueblo Bulls goalie Ryan Mitchell is the NCDC Mountain Division Goaltender of the Week, while Connecticut Jr. Rangers blueliner Seth Rakosky is the NCDC Atlantic Division Defenseman of the Week.

A somewhat locally-bred player, Mitchell, a 2006-born Colorado Springs native, put up the best single game goaltending performance at the showcase in Idaho Falls when he stopped 31 of 32 Provo Predators shots to get a win for his team, one of two for the Bulls in Idaho Falls.

With that win, the former Colorado Thunderbirds AAA goalie improved to 5-4 on the season.

The Jr. Rangers enjoyed a sweep against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights, and Rakosky played a huge part of that.

The 2004-born Denver native registered a goal and an assist, and also was plus-2 on the weekend with eight takeaways.

He currently has three points in 24 games this year.

Back home, Rakosky skated for the Colorado Rampage.
