Colorado natives Holguin, Stevens, Flageolle honored by USPHL with weekly honors

The USPHL has announced that Elmira Jr. Enforcers goalie Joseph Holguin is the Atlantic West Division Goaltender of the Week, Lake Tahoe Lakers defender Luke Stevens is the Pacific Division Defenseman of the Week, and Hampton Roads Whalers goalie Kannon Flageolle is the Southeast Division Goaltender of the Week.

Holguin (pictured top) stopped 46 of 48 shots in the Jr. Enforcers’ second game, a 7-2 win over the Buffalo Stampede. He spent limited time with the Jr. Enforcers last season, but is back this year to chase down the No. 1 spot for the second-year organization.

During his youth days, the 2001-born Parker native played at Chaparral High School.

Stevens is back with this honor again after taking what he had done offensively the first weekend (six points), equaled it on Friday night, and then for kicks, added four more points for 16 points in six total games so far.

A 2002 birth year from Boulder, his 8-8-16 line is better than most Premier forwards thus far.

Stevens played for the Colorado Evolution back home.

In a pair of overtime losses to the Charlotte Rush, Flageolle, a 2002-born Littleton native and Colorado Rampage alum, was a workhorse, stopping 73 of 79 shots over the weekend, helping to salvage two points for the visiting Whalers against the defending national champions.
