Rampage graduate Rakosky finds next fit with inaugural Roger Williams NCAA D-III squad
As another season approaches for Seth Rakosky, so does a new city and level to keep elevating his game.
After playing the 2024-25 season with the NAHL’s El Paso Rhinos, the Oklahoma native and Colorado Rampage alum is off to skate with the first-ever NCAA Division III team at Roger Williams University in Bristol, R.I.
Rakosky played the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons with the NAHL’s Danbury Hat Tricks and also saw time in the NCDC with the Connecticut Jr. Rangers.
“We are excited for Seth,” said Rhinos head coach Mike Rivera. “He came in midseason for us and played a pivotal role on our back end when we needed it the most. He’s a steady defensive defenseman that can log minutes five on five or on the penalty kill. Seth’s hockey IQ, skating, and work ethic will make him impactful at the NCAA level.”
This past season, Rakosky played 33 games with the Rhinos, tallying a goal and two assists.
Back with the Rampage, Rakosky said his time there was a turning point in his career.
“I have had a lot of great coaches that have influenced me in so many ways,” said Rakosky. “Whether that was Andrew Sherman, my coach the first year in the Rampage program, or CJ Yoder, Tyler Shipstad, Pat Bingham, Mario Puskarich or Luke Fulghum and Brett Clark my final season, each had a skill set that I benefited and grew from as a player and individual. In addition, trainer Jon Eng was a mentor and friend that inspired me in many ways off the ice.
“I really enjoy the in-state rivalries that each team has. The ’04 age group was always so strong and competitive and definitely made it a lot of fun to play in the state of Colorado growing up.”
