Vail native Rudrud overcomes obstacles, utilizes EHL to garner NCAA D-III Rivier commitment
Mason Rudrud, a forward for the EHL’s Providence Capitals, has committed to NCAA Division III Rivier for the 2025-26 season.
Rudrud, an ’04 out of Vail, spent two years with Providence. In his rookie season, he tallied 11 goals and 12 assists for 23 points in 46 games. Despite dealing with injury in the latter half of his age-out season in 2024-25, Rudrud still finished his time in the EHL with 44 points in 88 games played.
“I’m extremely happy for Mason to get his NCAA opportunity,” said Capitals head coach Jeff Perreault. “Mason had to overcome a few injuries to earn this chance. He’s sneaky talented and oozes size and skill. I’m excited to see the point production he creates. Rivier will be thrilled to see what Rudrud brings to the table – size, speed, and skill. It’ll be fun to watch. Congrats, kid.”
Rudrud will be joined by his linemates from the Capitals, Josh Coderre and Brayden Deschamps, when he becomes a Raider this fall.
“I’m extremely excited to announce my commitment to Rivier University,” Rudrud said. “I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity to continue my athletic and academic career, and I’d like to thank my coaches, family, and teammates who have helped make this possible.”
Back home, Rudrud played for the Vail Mountaineers, Rocky Mountain RoughRiders and Colorado Thunderbirds.
