Thunderbirds grad Bottrill named NCDC Forward of the Month

South Shore Kings forward Ryan Bottrill has been named one of three NCDC Forwards of the Month for January.

Thirteen games in 26 days. Not only did the Kings survive this busy gauntlet of a Hub City Tampa schedule, but they moved up to become one of the top teams in the NCDC. The Kings went 10-3 in January, including a massive 6-5 overtime win against the league’s perennial frontrunners, the Jersey Hitmen.

On every one of those 13 game scoresheets was Bottrill’s name in the goal and/or assist columns.

Bottrill, a 2002 birth year from Scottsdale, Ariz., scored seven goals and 15 assists for 22 points in the 13 games. He registered a pair of game-winners, including an OT winner with 16 seconds remaining in the extra session against the North Division-leading Boston Jr. Bruins.

He had a season high of two goals against the Northern Cyclones on Jan. 6, and another season-high four assists in the Instant Classic 6-5 win over Jersey. He entered February with an 11-20-31 line in 25 games.

As a youth star in Colorado, Bottrill skated for the Colorado Thunderbirds.
