Second-year Grit netminder Erickson makes NCAA D-I commitment, decides on Bentley
It’s onward and upward for the Colorado Grit’s Jack Erickson.
Erickson, a native of White Bear Lake, Minn., is playing his second season with the Grit and recently committed to NCAA Division I Bentley (Atlantic Hockey America).
“I am so thankful for the opportunities and experiences I got playing for the Grit,” said Erickson. “I could not have gotten this chance to move on and play Division I hockey without the support and encouragement of all the players and staff. I am very excited to achieve a dream of playing Division I hockey at Bentley University. I can not thank everyone enough at the Grit organization for helping me achieve it.
“Thank you to the staff at Bentley University for giving me this opportunity and believing in me. I could not be more happy to join the community and team.”
Erickson has been electric between the pipes for the Grit, posting a 2.59 goals-against average and a .918 save percentage over 25 games for Colorado. He has produced two shutouts this season while leading goaltenders on his squad with his goals-against average, save percentage, and wins.
Grit head coach Kevin Holmstrom noted how Erickson has been a valuable member of the squad.
“Jack has played at a very high level for us this season and gives us an opportunity to win each night,” Holmstrom said. “He has truly earned this. He is so respected by all of his teammates and our staff. I could not be happier for Jack, his family, and the opportunity he will have at Bentley.”
Erickson is the first member of the Grit this season to make a Division I college commitment.
