Playing for NA3HL’s Montana-based Icedogs a homecoming of sorts for Aurora native Ryan

Jack Ryan is in his second season as a goaltender with the NA3HL’s Bozeman Icedogs and has had a quick start out of the gate.

Last week, the Aurora native was named the Frontier Division Star of Week after earning back-to-back wins for the Montana-based Icedogs.

“I wanted to play for Bozeman because I have family out here,” explained Ryan. “I contacted (head coach) Mike Perkins and he liked me and he ended up tendering and signing me. Junior hockey has been the most fun I’ve had playing hockey from the competition to the team culture.

“Last season was great. We fell short of the playoffs by two points, but it prepared me well for knowing what it takes to go all the way this year.”

Growing up in Colorado, Ryan played for the Arapahoe Warriors until his 14U year. He then jumped to the Littleton Hawks for 15O and then 18U for two years. Ryan also played a semester for Cherry Creek High School during his senior year.

“The two main coaches that have helped me are Cole Fletcher and Mike Perkins,” said Ryan.

Looking ahead, Ryan has reachable milestones in mind.

“My short-term goal is to win the Frontier Division and, hopefully, get a couple looks from the NAHL,” Ryan said.
