Colorado’s and Utah’s Authoritative Voice of Hockey

For Centennial native, Cherry Creek alum Hunt-Bahn, NA3HL’s Rhinos provide opportunity to be ‘an impact player’

The staff of the El Paso Rhinos is actively building the team’s roster for the 2021-22 season.

And the club has recently, apparently, taken a liking to Colorado talent.

After selecting Payne Pent in the first round of April’s NA3HL Draft, the Rhinos signed Pent’s teammate Riley Hunt-Bahn to a tender agreement for next season.

“They had watched me play during the season and also watched me play for Team Colorado,” explained Hunt-Bahn, a Centennial native. “This is a league that provides a ton of opportunity. The organization has a ton of support from its coaches, fans and community. It looks like a very fun place to play junior hockey.

“I expect that it will take a little time to get used to junior hockey, with more hitting and making quicker plays, but if I play my game, I’m sure that I can become an impact player for the team.”

Growing up, Hunt-Bahn played for the Littleton Hawks and Colorado Thunderbirds before joining the high school ranks with Cherry Creek.

“My dad and family have played hockey, so they got me into it,” Hunt-Bahn said. “I think that the Avs made me like hockey even more, though. This past season was one of the most fun seasons I have played. I wish that it could have been a regular year.”

Now preparing for an offseason of relaxing, skating and training, Hunt-Bahn can start looking ahead to his future.

“My short-term goals are to play in the NA,” Hunt-Bahn said. “My long-term goals would be to play NCAA Division I or get a scholarship for hockey.”
