The NAHL’s Wichita Falls Warriors announced this week that forward and captain Jackson Wozniak has committed to Lindenwood University to further his hockey and academic career.
“I’m just beyond grateful for the opportunity,” said Wozniak, a 2000-born Cypress, Calif., native. “I’ve wanted to play college hockey my whole life and I’m excited to be a part of something very special at Lindenwood.”
The Lions hockey program currently competes in the ACHA at the Division I level, but will make the transition to NCAA Division I starting in the 2022-23 season.
“Very similar to this year with the Warriors being their inaugural season, I’ll have the opportunity to be a part of Lindenwood’s inaugural season as the team transitions to Division I,” Wozniak said.
This season with the Warriors, Wozniak has recorded a total of 16 points on four goals and 12 assists in 32 games.
“The character in the locker room is second to none and my teammates constantly challenge me on and off the ice everyday, and I couldn’t have done it without them,” said Wozniak.
Warriors head coach Garrett Roth has been pleased with Wozniak’s production and character on and off the ice since the moment he chose to become a Warrior.
“As a coaching staff and organization, we are so excited for Jackson and his family for earning this opportunity at Lindenwood,” said Roth. “Jackson had quite a few teams after him this offseason, but he chose to come here to Wichita Falls and help lead an expansion team in its inaugural season.
“His leadership from Day 1 led to him unanimously being voted as our captain and he has continued throughout the season to be a difference maker for us in every aspect of the game. His experience this season will help him go into Lindenwood and help lead that program in its transition period.”
During his youth hockey career, Wozniak skated for the Colorado Thunderbirds.
