Team OneHockey squads gearing up for summer tournament events across United States

Summertime is right around the corner, and OneHockey is again offering multiple events for youth players of all ages.

Having fun, while staying on track and playing hockey, are just some of the positives the events have yielded over the years.

“When we first started OneHockey back in 2004, we used to put together summer teams,” said OneHockey founder-CEO Sebastien Fortier. “We had coaches all across the country that would build teams and those teams were called OneHockey Michigan or OneHockey Texas, whichever state they were from. This was all over the U.S. and Canada.

“This was so much fun because you had kids coming in from all over playing against kids from all over on teams that had kids from like 12 different states. It was cool because then these kids all became friends.”

Back then, only AAA-level players could join the OneHockey summer teams, but now, players at the A, AA and AAA level are now eligible.

“The kids know what level they can compete at,” Fortier said.

Fortier noted that once coaches are selected for each team, they will join the team one day before the tournaments start to go over a game plan for the event and to get to know the players on the team.

All players will receive an authentic OneHockey jersey.

“Kids can play in one tournament or as many as they want,” said Fortier. “They can decide where they want to go and when they want to go. That way, they can experience OneHockey even without a coach. Coaches can bring entire teams or individual players can register on their own.

“If a kid played in a OneHockey tournament this winter and loved it and wants to come back this summer by themselves, he can do that and even bring a friend. This is a really exciting time.”

Over the years, more than 50 players that have participated in OneHockey summer tournaments have been drafted by NHL teams and over 300 have earned NCAA scholarships.

“We’ve had some really good players in the past, but again, this is not something that is just targeted to the higher-level players,” Fortier said. “We will have the AAA players, but we are excited to offer these events to AA- and A-level players as well.”

Each tournament will also boast the complete OneHockey experience with music, the mascot, awards after each game and tournament awards at the conclusion of the event.
