Showcase Series part of growing exposure initiatives for EHL, EHLP in 2026-27

As the Eastern Hockey League continues to thrive and succeed in player development and advancement on a yearly basis, part of that process is the league’s annual Showcase Series, events where some or all teams in the EHL and EHLP come together under one roof and play regular-season games in front of scouts and decision-makers from higher levels of the game.

On the heels of major success with the showcases in 2025-26, several events are already signed and secured for 2026-27.

“Our Showcase Series is our bread and butter,” said EHL commissioner Neil Ravin. “These events have helped us establish who we are over the years, as our exposure for the players is second to none. By strategically placing these showcases at the beginning, middle, and end of the college hockey season, we’ve been able to attract a larger audience of scouts and college hockey coaches, by catering to their schedules. We’re putting events on when scouting and recruiting is at the top of their priority list. Coupled with a pair of regional showcases this season, and we’re really excited over everything that the 2026-27 Showcase Series entails.”

Outside of the three league-wide events on the calendar this year, there are also a pair of regional showcases, as the Northeast Conference will host a showcase for its teams on Veteran’s Day, set to take place in Walpole, Mass., and the Mid-Atlantic Conference will follow suit on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, playing at Hollydell Ice Arena in Sewell, N.J.

Over the years, these showcase events have provided a “one-stop shop” for college scouts as they peruse the next wave of talent coming out of the EHL. During the 2025-26 hockey season, more than 500 EHL graduates were listed on NCAA hockey rosters across the country, many of whom were seen and started conversations with schools via showcase events.

“These may be labeled ‘showcase’ games, but they all count in the standings,” said Ravin. “The players and coaches go all out like they do for non-showcase games, and that’s a testament to the culture we foster here in the EHL. It’s never been about seeing how many new teams we can add or anything like that. The franchises we have, everyone involved has the same goal in mind, and that’s showcasing our players time and time again. The showcases do that and scouts and coaches only have to go to one rink. You really can’t beat that.”

Once the 2026-27 season gets underway, all 30 teams, 17 in the EHL and 13 and the EHLP, will meet up for the first time October 1-4 at the annual Ice Breaker Showcase at the Cadillac of Norwood Ice Arena in Walpole, Mass. Every team will play at least three games at this opening event.

After that, the EHL returns to the International Skating Center of Connecticut for the Mid-Season Snowdown. This mid-week event, scheduled for December 15-17, will feature all 17 EHL teams, plus the EHLP All-Star Game on the opening night – Tuesday, December 15.

The final league-wide event of the year will take place once again in suburban Philadelphia, as the Broad Street Battle returns to IceWorks Skating Complex in Aston, Pa., for the third consecutive season on March 12-14. The weekend will feature all EHL teams in action, plus the EHLP’s Mid-Atlantic Conference.

The EHL and EHLP teams are currently preparing for this upcoming season, including scheduling all of the regular-season games set to take place around the showcases.

“This is the offseason, but our work never really takes a break,” Ravin said. “As a league, we pride ourselves on always putting the players first and doing all we can, and then some, to get eyes on these talented kids by coaches that can build on their development in the EHL and helping them reach their goals, which for the vast majority of them is college hockey.

“The players are our No. 1 priority and always will be.”
