Falcons’ Starrett cops AHC Goalie of the Month award
Air Force freshman Shane Starrett has been named the Atlantic Hockey Goalie of the Month as he helped lead Air Force to a 7-1-2 record in the month of January.
In nine games last month, the native of Bellingham, Mass., posted a .947 save percentage and a 1.21 goals-against average. In eight starts, he allowed just 10 goals, while making 179 saves and posting the first two shutouts of his career. His first career shutout came against Army when he made 23 saves in leading Air Force to a 1-0 win over its service academy rival. Starrett also shutout Niagara with 14 saves in a 3-0 win on Jan. 22.
He held the opponent to one goal or less in six of his last eight games.
The conference monthly honor was the second for Starrett this season as he was also Rookie of the Month for November.
