Silverthorne hosting Colorado Pond Hockey Tournament
The town of Silverthorne will host the Pabst Blue Ribbon Colorado Pond Hockey Tournament from Feb. 12-14, bringing more to the majestic Colorado town than just ice skates and hockey jerseys.
While raising money for First Descents, participants, friends, families and spectators can catch some great hockey at the North Pond Park, ranging from ex-NHL players to stay-at-home moms.
First Descents provides life-changing outdoor adventures for young adults impacted by cancer.
This not-so-secret, yet unknown event to non-hockey addicts includes music, giveaways, free yard games (ice games), bonfires, hot tubs, Zamboni rides, a “Hockey Hair” contest and more.
The tournament brings together 150 teams representing over 45 states and several countries, and is the largest tournament this side of the Mississippi River.
The President’s Day weekend event begins bright and early on Friday, Feb. 12 and is open to the public. The APRES ICE party on Saturday, Feb. 13 will kick off at 8 p.m. with 40oz. to Freedom, a Sublime tribute band.
Championships begin on Sunday, Feb. 14 with trophy presentations awarded to the weekend’s winners.
