Colorado natives Allen, Howe garner weekly accolades from USPHL

A pair of Colorado products have picked up weekly honors from the USPHL.

Wisconsin Rapids Riverkings goalie Riley Allen is the Midwest West Division Goaltender of the Week, while Florida Eels defenseman Hunter Howe has been tabbed the Florida Division Defenseman of the Week.

Allen, an ’01 out of Lakewood, made 34 saves in each of the Riverkings’ win and overtime loss against the Minnesota Moose over the weekend, helping his team pick up three points. The Friday win was Riley’s 30th win over two seasons with the Riverkings, improving his USPHL Premier career record to 30-9-5. Allen improved upon his 2.12 goals-against average and .924 save percentage.

Back home, Allen played for Dakota Ridge High School, the Littleton Hawks and Colorado Thunderbirds.

Howe registered a goal and an assist as the Eels earned wins against the Palm Beach Typhoon and Florida Jr. Blades, their third and fourth straight. Howe also blocked three shots and he was second in defenseman minutes (42:56).

The 2001 birth year from Glenwood Springs skated for the Colorado Evolution during his youth hockey days.
