The USA 80+ Hockey Hall of Fame, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Superior dedicated to honoring hockey players and builders aged 80 and older, will welcome 34 new inductees during its 2026 induction weekend.

This event will take place September 25-26 at Blue Sport Stable, the Hall of Fame’s home rink, and the adjacent Impact Sports facility in Superior.

“Every one of the 34 inductees represents what the 80+ Hockey Hall of Fame is about–proof that the love of this game doesn’t have an age limit,” said Fred Merchant, founding director and president emeritus of the USA 80+ Hockey Hall of Fame.

Merchant, now 89, continues to play competitive hockey and founded this organization after years of playing alongside what he has identified as “The Real Ironmen of Hockey.”

“I’m still out there lacing up my skates, and so are a lot of the people we’re honoring this year,” said Merchant. “That’s the whole point.”

The induction weekend opens Friday, September 25, with the private memorabilia showcase, a skate-around for inductees and family, and an evening reception, all reserved for inductees, family, board members, and donors.

The public celebration will be held Saturday, September 26, with the memorabilia room opening at 10:30 a.m., followed by inductee photos and a players meeting. At 2:15 p.m., the Legends Showcase takes the ice at Blue Sport Stable’s West Rink, a free and open-to-the-public exhibition game featuring the soon-to-be-inducted players. The day concludes with the ticketed induction banquet at p.m. in the Impact Sports gymnasium.

The USA 80+ Hockey Hall of Fame was founded to celebrate hockey players and builders aged 80 and above who continue to inspire both on and off the ice. The Hall of Fame makes its home at Blue Sport Stable in Superior, home to the Long Hockey community whose players, volunteers, and donors have supported the organization since its founding. The Blue Sport Stable’s ties to The Real Iron Men of Hockey, the group whose resilience and camaraderie helped inspire the Hall of Fame’s creation, make it a fitting permanent home for the organization.
