Superior native, RoughRiders, Monarch grad Wasik nails down monthly AHA award
Air Force junior Dominik Wasik has been named the Atlantic Hockey America Goalie of the Month in helping lead the Falcons to a 4-2-2 record in the month of February.
Wasik, from Superior, started all eight games and had two shutouts with a 2.21 goals-against average and a .913 save percentage.
He closed out the month with a sweep at first-place Bentley as the Falcons clinched a first-round bye in the playoffs.
In the Bentley series, he allowed just two goals in the two games for a 1.00 goals-against average and a .967 save percentage, stopping 59 of 61 in the series as he earned his fourth AHA Goalie of the Week honor. In game two, he made 25 saves in his fourth career shutout.
His third shutout of the season came in the 0-0 overtime tie with Army West Point on Feb. 21 as he made 30 saves.
The monthly award was the second of the season and career for Wasik.
Back in Colorado, Wasik played for the Rocky Mountain RoughRiders and Monarch High School.
