The UCHC has announced that Utica freshman forward Nicolas Haviar is the Rookie of the Week.

Haviar had a memorable weekend as not only did he register his first collegiate goal as a Pioneer, but he went on to record a hat trick in the same game to help lead the Pioneers to a 7-1 win over Lebanon Valley on Sunday.

His three goals came on six shots on goal and were also each of Utica’s three last goals of the contest. His first one came at 12:18 in the second period for the first of his career before notching his second six minutes later. His third and final came in the third period to put the finishing touches on the win and complete the hat trick.

During his youth hockey days, the Vail native played for the Colorado Thunderbirds and Colorado Evolution.
