Denver native, St. Lawrence junior Hayton named ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Week

Kyle Hayton broke a 60-year-old St. Lawrence University program record for career shutouts with his ninth and 10th last weekend against Princeton University and No. 6 Quinnipiac University to help the Saints to a 2-0 start in conference play.

On Tuesday, he was named the ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Week for his efforts.

The Denver native made 29 saves in a 4-0 win over the Tigers on Friday night and stopped all 25 shots he faced against the Bobcats on Saturday.

Hayton is the first St. Lawrence goaltender to post back-to-back shutouts since Alex Petizian in Feb. 2009.

During his youth hockey days, Hayton played for the CC Jr. Tigers, the Colorado Thunderbirds and the Colorado Hockey Club (now Rampage).

Hayton was also the 2015-16 Colorado Rubber Magazine NCAA Player of the Year.
