Denver native Hayton claims ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Week honors

 

St. Lawrence junior goaltender Kyle Hayton is the ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.

Hayton helped the No. 14 Saints to a weekend sweep of Rensselaer and then-No. 5 Union to move into first place in the ECAC Hockey standings.

Hayton, who was 2-0 for the Saints between the pipes, led ECAC Hockey netminders on the weekend with 72 saves – 34 of which came in the third period (16 vs. RPI, 18 vs. Union). He also had a combined 2.00 goals-against average and .947 save percentage against the Engineers and Dutchmen.

The Denver native is now 14-6-6 this season with a 2.08 GAA, a .934 save percentage and four shutouts.

During his youth hockey days, Hayton played for the CC Jr. Tigers, the Colorado Thunderbirds and the Colorado Hockey Club (now Rampage).

He was also the 2015-16 Colorado Rubber Magazine NCAA Player of the Year.
