After four-year junior hockey career, Arvada native Winters off to pro hockey ranks in FPHL

Camden Winters played four seasons of junior hockey in two leagues in three different states.

The Arvada native played for the USPHL’s Bold City Battalion in 2024-25 after prior stops with the Vernal Oilers (then in the CAJHL) and Battle Creek Kernels (USPHL). After his one year with the Jacksonville, Fla.-based Battalion, Winters signed to play pro hockey last spring with the FPHL’s HC Venom in New York.

For the 2025-26 season, Winters recently signed with the FPHL’s Biloxi Breakers.

“Being in Jacksonville was a good transition for me to truly leave somewhere like BC that felt like home and give myself a fresh start for my last season,” said Winters. “I felt the Florida Division offered me the best competition and chances at growing my game. I had multiple phone calls for places to call home, but I had some hometown buddies I played roller hockey with that ended up getting me a spot in Florida and I couldn’t pass up the chance to play with childhood friends my last season.

“After my playoff performance and growth, I had talked with my coach that got me in contact with Noah Wild of the Florida Jr. Blades and he made some phone calls for me to the ‘Fed.’ The transition was nothing less than challenging. Guys were older and much stronger than what I was used to. Couple skates and hard work with the team brought me to pace fairly quickly, though.”

Going pro right out of junior hockey was a decision Winters said was the correct one for his situation.

“I had multiple college options for ACHA Division 1, but didn’t get to my goal of NCAA D-III,” Winters said. “College never seemed like the correct move for me, so pro made my decision easy.”

Heading into the season in Biloxi, Miss., Winters is training to make an impact.

“I expect to gain some more muscle and strength getting a full schedule under my belt,” said Winters. “I feel I can bring a physical, fast and calm game to the team with the shutdown-style defense I like to play.”

Prior to junior hockey, Winters played for the Arvada Hockey Association and Hyland Hills Jaguars.
